Yevgeniy Timoshenko Wins the 2009 WPT World Championship. At Only 21
years this young play dominated the final table. He sat down as the chip
leader, and never looked back. This wasn’t his first win, but in fact it
was third win.

The tournament started out with several poker pros as well as a mixture
of amateurs. Timoshenko was confident as his chip stack grew, and he took out players. His journey to the top took a staggering eight days to play, and several thousand hands and chips to make it to the top. His final table journey was not an easy feat. He had to stay alive against some
great poker players and monster stacks. At the final table was poker favorite Scotty Nguyen, Shannon Shorr, Christian Harder, Bertrand Grospellier, and Ran Azor and of course tournament winner, Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko had a very short heads up against Ran Azor. After the break, when both players were dealt their cards Ran quickly raised to 80,000 chips, and he was quickly called by Timoshenko who pushed all in.
Ran didn’t hesitate and he called the all in.

Both players turned over their cards Azor quickly called with Q 10, and Timoshenko showed a superior A 3. Azor was hoping his Q 10 would be strong enough to take a monster pot away from Timoshenko. Likewise Timoshenko was hoping his hand would be strong enough to take out Ran.
The Flop came Q J 7, and it looked like Ran was going to take down the pot. Things quickly changed when an K fell on the turn. This gave Timoshenko a chance at hitting a straight. Everyone waited while the dealer turned over the final card, a 10, and Timoshenko hit his straight
and ended up winning the tournament.

Initiating with style in the Bellagio’s Fontana Lounge on Tuesday the 2009 World Poker Tour Championship witnesses the dismissal of a hundred players from the staggering number of 162. With only 62 players left standing the show was destined to go on, therefore at exactly 12:00 p.m. Wednesday Steve Billirakis who holds the title for being the youngest World Series of Poker bracelet winner in history made his way in with the chip lead.

An introvert Billirakis was refraining himself from letting out the secret to his success at the World Poker Tour Championship and stated that there is no undisclosed enigma behind his achievement at the poker industry’s most renowned tournament other than him trying to play it like a cash game. However the biggest shocker ever that is bound to take the wind out of your sail is the participation of Boris Becker who is highly popularized for being the youngest Wimbledon champion in history. A legend in the world of tennis Becker is all set out to prove that he has the guts to play hard ball especially when it comes to poker.

A PokerStars Ambassador Becker jump-started his transition into the poker world at the European Poker Tour Grand Finale almost a year ago and though it is said that he is falling behind on chips in Las Vegas it seems that things are going quite smooth.

Becker recently stated that the experience of playing with the pros certainly brings out astounding feelings and with time he has started to feel more comfortable with his surroundings. He also commented that this is his first time making it to the fourth day of a big tournament and he is just trying to claw his way into the spot where the money starts to roll in. With more than $2 million hanging in the balance the World Poker Tour Championship is expected to reach the 50 player money spot early Wednesday.

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Foxwoods Poker Classic has been officially launched from the Connecticut casino on Friday.  Players attendance has significantly dropped by 25%, the exact reason for this is still unknown, but it can either be because of the current economic crunch or the ongoing spring championships of online poker tournament series. A recent news on the WPT website about the drop in attendance stated that  “While some of the West Coast pros stayed in Las Vegas for the Bellagio prelims, it’s clear that the economy is playing a factor here in the Northeast, where only 259 players showed up for the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic.”

In 2008, 346 players participated into the Foxwoods poker classic with Erik Seidel emerging as the winner by earning $992,000 from his victory. Erik seidel already own eight WSOP (World series of Poker) bracelets, but this was his first WCPT victory. The 2008 Foxwoods final table featured Ted Forrest who managed to earn $103,000 by grabbing sixth place.

Due to the low turn out the fox wood poker classic, which will go on air through Fox pro net is going to award less than three million dollars to the winner. Details of paydays are as follow.

Day one at the Connecticut casino featured 5 levels of 90 minutes each, which resulted in 165 players survival. The tournament champion will be crowned on Wednesday 8th of April, the winner apart from getting $731,000 in cash, will also grab $25,000 entry into the WPT Championship starting on April 18.

With a throng of loyal fans gathered to support their favorite poker stars, the 2009 World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting star has narrowed down from a staggering number of 145 players to 36 in San Jose today. Michael Nguyen was witnessed to enter the field today with the chip lead followed by the recurrent finalist David Pham and Internet phenomenon’s Isaac Baron and Vivek Rajkumar right behind him. But the day didn’t prove to be as fortunate for them and the entire group was seen leaving the conflict one after the other. Renowned stars like Daniel Negreanu, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren and Jonathan Little also hit the rail as they moved past the 45-person money bubble.

Astonishingly certain players who were swiftly gathering attention from several professional poker players are relatively unknown such as Michael Kamran who finished second with Hevad Khan, the Team Poker Stars Pro at the 2008 Caesars Palace Classic, appeared as the new chip leader by the end of the day. Kamran is confident that the experience at the Caesars has completely prepared him for earning his way to the World Poker Tour finals tomorrow. He said that the Caesars field was similar to this one and he is now geared up to flaunt to everyone in the event, his unique style of gambling and do his post flop damages against his experienced rivals.

The play moving to six handed in the final 36 at Bay 101 is one of the most unique and exquisite structures at the World Poker Tour and Michael Kamran has said that he’s ready for it. Although Freddy Deeb managed to triumph over the World Poker Tournament’s Celebrity Invitational, he made it certain that the real winners were the kids. Before going into the final battle field on Monday he announced a generous donation of 50 percent of his winning at the event which he plans on giving to a charity association for children. Within the next four hours, Freddy Deeb; the 2007 H.O.R.S.E world champion had bagged another $50,000 for Mekhi Phifer’s The Vine Group securing a second World Poker Tour title for himself. It was the actor Nick Gonzales who was defeated by Deeb in the heads-up play to win the $100k grand prize that came along with a shiny World Poker Tour bracelet and a chance to enter into April’s $25k World Championship at Bellagio.

Deeb told Mike Sexton, the WPT announcer that even though it’s been a great a pleasure for him; he initially didn’t plan to attend the event for he had $80,000 in the cash game. But he changed his mind in the 11th hour and decided to go and have a few drinks with some celebrities and enjoy the night. However Freddy got weary at the final table. He said he had made up his mind to play well for the kids and forget about the occurrences of the last two days. It was not the first time that the Invitational raised money for charity, an astonishing amount of $78,720 was raised by the participants for the Vine Group that helps African under-privileged children in pursuing their education. Ending up in first place, it was Deeb’s generous offer that bumped the amount to almost $130k. All pro poker players participating in the tournament donated part of their winnings. 

It was not an easy job to earn the first place for Deeb as he picked off a dramatically poor bluff made by Tom Hall, the Asian Poker Tour founder in order to take the lead while three-handed. Only a few hands later Deeb flopped a set of sevens which made Hall experience his final moments in the tournament. Leading to a heads-up grudge battle between Deeb and Gonzales it wasn’t long before Deeb practically held the title in his hands even before the final showdown. As anticipated Gonzales had to settle for the second position winning $50,000 and Deeb won the title and the Grand Prize not only for himself but also for the welfare of the children.
