Poker Stars to Give Away $1 Million in WCOOP 2009 Seats

When it comes to online poker, the PokerStars provides its players the best it can whether its monetary terms or the games it offer.

Recently the PokerStars.com has added a total of one million dollars for the 2009 World Championship of online poker seats, which are running daily from August 4th to 6th.

According to a Poker room manager, Mike Jones “We’re calling them the WCOOP Extreme Satellites, harkening to extreme sports in the sense that we’re having a massive giveaway in the satellites,” he further went on “In every satellite, we’re going to be adding 50 to 100 seats to the prize pool. We’re throwing in literally $1 million worth of seats completely as added value, and those satellites start as low as $7.50.”

For the Extreme Satellites, players will win their way into a WCOOP tournament of a certain buy-in such as $109, $215, etc, instead of specific tournament, so that players are able to choose their desired tournament.

There WCOOP tournament also has special qualifiers running every day until the start of the series, which commences on September 5th. Just like the World Series of Poker satellites, PokerStars also has Steps tournaments which start at $7.50. The 2009 WCOOP will feature 45 events, and this is expected to be the biggest online poker series it has ever held. Read more!

“Despite the issue with the economy, we still had good growth in our business over the last year, so I think we can expect that, to some extent, at least to translate into participation,” said Jones.

The WCOOP will feature new tournaments such as, a $109 no-limit hold’em with a $1 million-guaranteed prize pool, as well as new formats, like the $215 “big ante” no-limit hold’em tournament.

There will be no mini-WCOOP with similar events with lower buy-ins, a trend PokerStars employed for its most recent Spring Championship of Online Poker.

According to a manger Alex Scott” We wanted to keep the prestige of the WCOOP intact,” “The WCOOP is the World Championship. At the same time, we’re offering cheap ways to get into these tournaments.”

The WCOOP includes faster dealing compared to last year’s series, synchronized breaks for its events, and new payout and blinds structures.

Online Poker room Full Tilt implement tournaments chops

One of the most breathtaking, thrilling and exhilarating form of online entertainment is provided by the Full Tilt Poker online poker room. Once again the poker room is set to make its poker play more interesting with the help of software.

While the online poker sites update software on what seems like a daily basis, Full Tilt’s new package has some significant and welcoming new changes.

The poker room players have had trouble in the past with the amount of options that are available to them. Especially the Players in Full Tilt tournaments have been stuck mostly forced to play the cards out rather than chop the pot among surviving patrons. With the assistance of the software now the poker room provides new options in the Full Tilt package which allow players to agree to split the pot in one of several different choices.

The easiest method for splitting a pot is Chip ratio. The size of each player’s stack is converted to a percentage of all chips in play, and the pot is divided according to those percentages.

The Independent chip modeling method offers a more mathematical twist. A computer figures probabilities of each player winning based on the remaining chip counts, computes the likely finishing spots if the event were played to completion, and divides the money accordingly.

Another option for chopping is the custom model which is the final choice at the online poker site. The dealer can summon a pop-up box, in which he enters proposed split values. The split will not process until all players agree to the amounts assigned them.

If poker players get tired of trying to work out a compromise, a player can just hit a button canceling the deal mode and returning to the tournament. Full Tilt is sure to attract more tournament players with this new innovation, curing one of its major flaws in running events.

Benjamin LaBlond won 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championship

An amateur player beat a Vegas star to capture the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championship at the Stampede Casino, Calgary with the championship coming down to a battle between a tournament-tested eminent and an online poker enthusiast.

David had slain Goliath, after the chips fell the last time on Sunday. Benjamin LaBlond, 22, of Hull, Quebec, whose only real experience is playing poker online, took home $100,000 in tax-free cash after beating Jeff Madsen, the runner up, who is a World Series of Poker bracelet winner from Santa Barbara.

The major turning point for the event was their best-of-three heads-up match in which LaBlond secured the second and third games on Sunday evening.

LaBlond expressed, “The tourney has really boosted up my spirits and given much confidence as competing against real players is very different from playing online.”

However, success for LaBlond did not come out of the blue. He had been battling fiercely with poker champions Brad Booth and Phil Helmuth all along the weekend. He shared that as the entry fee for the World Series of Poker contest was $10,000; he had saved his winnings for that.

“It’s all about how you invest again in the trade,” he stated smilingly.

Jeff Madsen, his antagonist, is the youngest ever champion of a World Series of Poker bracelet. He was very affable in annihilation, though the $50,000 runner-up prize helped. “It feels really great to be a part of this tournament; and I am satisfied with my performance”, he said. “I was not intending to attend this event as I had plans to take some rest before the World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas, but I am happy now at my decision.”

The players had a choice of participating in three different conjectures; a Pot Limit Omaha, three No Limit Hold ‘em events and Heads Up, the main event which spread over four days.

The contestants, in that event accosted each other in one-on-one expulsion draws. This was, in effect the real ambush of the weekend where novices got the opportunity to test their capabilities in terms of artifice, tolerance, brilliance and chance, by competing against some legends in the online Poker world. The aggregate prize pot was brought to $425,000 approximately; with 93 players and the buy-in price of $5,000 per head.

Mr. Kelly Keller, the CEO and President of the Canadian Casino said that the idea of taking home one year’s salary by working for just a weekend brought them out in multitudes. Further, he said, “You’ll never beat Tiger Woods at a round of golf, but on a poker table at any particular day, you can change your destiny if you play with the right strategy.”
