Party Poker Quietly Ranks in Top Three Largest Online Poker Rooms

January was an amazing month for the poker industry as Party Poker suddenly jumped into the ranks of the top three largest online poker rooms of the world. Many didn’t even notice that Party Poker crossed iPoker for the first time in almost two years.

According to Poker scout, it is the first time that the top four cash game sites got a big change in 93rd week. Traffic to online Party Poker increased by 20% that week due to the return of the cash machine promotion. While the traffic at iPoker Network starts decreasing at the same time and the reason behind this is that iPoker changed their rake calculation from dealt to contributed method.

Most of the players who wants to win huge bonuses; likes dealt method because it allows them to earn credit for raked hands while folding the majority of their hands. While due to this method change, the network lost those players who were just playing for bonuses.

Also, at the end of 2009, iPoker announced that they are going to clear-out on their room that is offering rake-back. Also some winning players were really told they were no longer welcome, and those who had been receiving rake-back may need to move to other rooms.

Now five week has been passed, and Party Poker.com is still in the third place in the cash game rankings. According to Poker Scout, its seven day normal for cash players is 5,400, a solid 550 players ahead of iPoker. It still has a long way to go to catch either PokerStars or Full Tilt, which has seven day averages of 32,800 and 16,600, respectively.

According to Poker Scout it’s been reported that there were also some other changes in the first week of February. The Cake Poker Network, the Micro-Gaming Poker Network, and the International Poker Network keep jockeying for the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots, with Cake and Micro gaming currently tied, just 100 players ahead of IPN.

Everest Poker move slowly ahead towards the Cereus Network into sixth position, while Pacific Poker has moved ahead of Sweden’s Svenska Spel into 12th place.

Party Poker Introduces Synched Breaks and Stacked Console

Party Poker recently introduced the latest software update for its poker room, enabling synchronized breaks and a new console that allows players to track all of their games in a single window.

Following sites like PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and UB Poker, Party Poker’s synchronized break system includes all of the multi-table tournaments.

The breaks will last for five minutes every hour, but not all tournaments will go on breaks at that time. The exceptions include Turbo tournaments still in the first two levels of play, any tournament still in the first level of play and tournaments that are running and still open for late registration.

Another important change is that some tournaments will allow players to register within the first six levels of play. The tournament lobbies will also include a deadline for when a player can unregister from a tournament and receive a full refund. Also, players can now register for tournaments via Party Poker.com’s official website without having to open and log into the poker client.

In addition to this, the new stacked console, offers players another display option for multiple tables in addition to tiling and cascading. The stacked view allows players to list their tables with notations for what position they are in during a hand and timer alerts for when it is their turn to act. Users can also see how many chips their opponents have at a given table and act on hands within the stacked console without having to open up an individual table.

Although it is not complete, the stacked console will be highly customizable and users can choose what boxes they see, whether they need to single or double click to toggle or select a given action and can also change the size and color of the deck. The stacked console can handle between 4-14 tables worth of information.

Before the introduction of these latest updates, Party Poker representatives took the advice of players on the TwoPlusTwo poker forum. The poker room is still seeking feedback, especially on the new stacked console options, and players can give comments on the site’s official blog.

PartyGaming Seals the Deal with World Poker Tour Purchase

PartyGaming was always known as one of the biggest gambling leagues in the world, bringing Online Poker Rooms, online casino gaming, and even sports gambling to American residents, in the form of a great collection of games. However with the passing of time and with the UIGEA being introduced, Party Poker had to pull away from the American market, which obviously damaged their overall worth and main source of revenue.

This sudden drawback however has not stopped PartyGaming from being one of the largest gambling ventures in the world, as they have recently also taken a major step by acquiring the World Poker Tour which is the second most prominent series of poker tournaments in the world.

Now for a relatively skimpy $12.3 million dollars, as well as a minimum of $3 million dollars revenue sharing over the next three years, PartyGaming will become the new supplier of the World Poker Tour tournaments in the USA and Europe. This takeover has given a chance to PartyGaming to return to the American market, and perhaps a huge increase on the overall worth of PartyGaming.

During the whole scandal Mandalay Media had attempted to push PartyGaming’s bid out of the scene, though their $36 million dollar proposal was rejected, giving PartyGaming the rights to the World Poker Tour. This unparalleled purchase has surely helped with the return of PartyGaming’s online platforms to the United States, despite fines imposed by the government against PartyGaming’s operating in the USA.

The entire deal had caused PartyGaming’s share to rise to 236.7p a piece, up 5.6p from the day’s opening which was also good for its image. Ironically however, this purchase is seen to have been finalized not even two months after Anurag Dikshit, one of the original owners of PartyGaming, sold most of his shares.

During November, PartyPoker.com has become the ‘in place’. From the 1st till the 30th November players who hit the daily minimum target of 10 PartyPoints for just five days claim the fabulous reward of an entry into a $5,000 poker freeroll.

The World Poker Tour is one of the largest and most eventful poker tours in the world. The biggest professional stars all play on the tour, and the television exposure of the WPT events is unparalleled. This sudden takeover, while surprising some, has many industry insiders and critics wondering whether or not this helps Party Gaming in their efforts to get back into the US market.

According to an observer Neal Benton, “Certainly if the laws change in the US, the World Poker Tour will be instrumental in the online poker industry,” “even though the World Poker Tour has struggled recently, they have been instrumental in the poker movement throughout the world.”

There may have been financial hardships which led to the move to sell the WPT brand because it has been observed that in recent years, attendance has fallen off, and that has harmed the company financially. The World Poker Tour group however believes PartyGaming has the ability to turn things around for them for the better.

According to the WPTE President and CEO, Steve Lipscomb “PartyGaming has been an important partner for a couple of years and we are confident that they will be an excellent manager of our brands in the future,” The sale of the WPT was completed for $12.3 million and five percent of future gaming revenues.
