Full Tilt Online Poker Launches New Weekly Tournament

Full Tilt Online Poker is always up to some great poker activity, be it the games it features or its money minting bonus offers. This time the Poker group is offering an extremely exciting opportunity to play, enjoy and win!

Friday nights are usually dull when it comes to poker. Now however, Friday nights are as special as any other poker night or day for that matter. Thanks to Full Tilt Poker, Poker has recently added a brand new tournament format, which is available only on Friday nights.

So every Friday night, Full Tilt will be hosting a $75,000 dollar bounty tournament. The Buy-in is not to be trifled with, as the tournament costs $500+$35. The players can attempt to win one of the many satellites and these run for very little amounts also 50 Full Tilt points.

The bounty tournaments give extra prizes each time a player eliminates an opponent. Of the $500 dollar buy in, $400 goes to the prize pool and $100 dollars goes toward the bounty. Every time a player defeats an opponent, he automatically gains $100 dollars.

The satellites are constantly running for these tournaments, so even defeating ten players of probable pool of over a thousand would cause a gain of $1,000 dollars. In this tournament the better a player is at defeating their opponent, the more money they can mint. With satellites as low as a dollar, players can bust one opponent and walk with more than enough to make up the time spent.

This is not all as Full Tilt Poker Room is offering a 100% deposit bonus up to $600 dollars. It is more than enough to cover the buy-in for a tournament, should you deposit $535 dollars. Therefore, by depositing just enough for one Friday Night Sweat bounty tournament, a player can enjoy two of these high priced bounty tournaments, winning much more than originally deposited.

World Championship of Online Poker ends, winner takes $1.7M

The World Championship of Online Poker has once again come to an end and from this event have emerged some great winners! The recent addition to the list of winners is the Ukrainian player, Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko who brought down the field of 2,144 players in the PokerStars World Championship of Online poker to bring home $1.7 million dollars.

An entire month of high stakes tournaments ended Monday, with the main event yielding the largest prize pool of all of the events. The game was No Limit Texas Hold ‘em, and the stakes were $5,200. The top 306 of the tournament brought down a prize, with the lowest prize still being a gain of $3,000 from the $5,000 dollar buys in. Even the second place winner took home $1 million dollars, causing this tournament to create two millionaires over night.

In total, the WCOOP gave out prizes equal to $51,652,800. More than 112,000 players took part, and over 104 different countries watched players in the money. Among these 104 countries involved, the United States won the most first place positions.

Twenty-five of the bracelets handed out by the WCOOP went to USA players, with the United Kingdom taking the next largest set of four. One player, djk123, minted money more than any other player, making money 11 times, and was at more final tables than the rest of the field. More USA Online Poker!

The WCOOP comes once a year, and this year the games featured 45 exciting events over 18 days. The next WCOOP starts in around a year’s time, and all PokerStars pro players are legible to attend. Anyone else who is legally able to gamble in their jurisdiction may sign up for PokerStars, and feel the magnetizing power of their newly revamped deposit bonus; a 100% match to $600 dollars.

8 of 9 Inked in 2009 World Series of Poker

During the four-month break of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) last year, the aim was to give the event some publicity. Another reason was to give the nine final table members the chance to ink endorsement deals with online poker rooms-in exchange for wearing a room’s logo during televised final table play, the final table member earns a fee. The event now resumes in November and 8 of 9 tables have had deals.

From Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com) Eric Buchman, will be on the final table andhas the second-largest amount of chips; Joe Cada, who is fifth in chips and Kevin Schaffel, who is sixth.

From Full Tilt Poker (www.FullTiltPoker.com) will be Phil “Poison” Ivey, who is seventh in chips at the final table, Steve Begleiter, who is second in chips and James Akenead, who is ninth.

Antoine Saout, who is eighth in chips, has signed on as a paid mouthpiece for online room Everest Poker (www.everestpoker.com).

Jeffrey Shulman, fourth in chips, is editor of poker magazine Card Player (www.cardplayer.com), which owns online poker room Spade Club (www.spadeclub.com).

The only member of the table without an endorsement deal with an online poker room is final table chip-leader Darvin Moon, who says he doesn’t play online poker. Despite that, numerous online poker rooms still want to hire him to endorse their rooms, but he said he is not interested in the offer.

Last year 8 out of 9 tables had deals, so wanting to spread the endorsement wealth a little more in ‘09, the WSOP instituted a new rule this year limiting the number of final table members who could endorse the same room to three. The rule is clearly a restraint of trade, and probably unconstitutional, but the WSOP doesn’t care-it needs the publicity.

The brand is yet again expanding its existence in the online world with an aim to secure a gaming license with the ability to attract and fully service European Union poker operators.

The development of a completely fresh Bodog-branded poker network is the main event for the network which also plans to incorporate new domain names and poker rooms into the group of sites during the next year. The former Chief Executive Officer of the Ongame Poker Network Patrik Selin has secured compulsory obligations from all Bodog online gambling brands as initial network licensees.

Calvin Ayre founder of the successful Bodog Brand, stated, that “I am extremely excited about this new licensee of BodogBrand.com; Bodog Network is the first business to business enterprise to license the brand and the fit simply couldn’t be better. Patrik Selin’s very detailed business plan and proposal were very compelling, and after building Ongame into a network powerhouse under his leadership, his abilities and credibility are unquestionable.”

Mr. Selin gave his opinion saying “I intend to build one of the largest and most reputable poker networks in the world, and we are building a model that is founded on security and integrity, and Bodog Network partners will never need to disclose or put their customer databases at risk. The initial discussions I’ve had regarding potential candidate partners have been overwhelmingly positive,” adding, “As the network comes online in 2010, we will naturally be extending the network to non-’Bodog’ branded operators. Those discussions are already underway.”

Selin was CEO when Bwin acquired the Ongame Network in 2006 after which he also served as the President and CEO of GNUF and Betway. Selin is a respected European industry expert and is expected to do very well with the Bodog Branded Network.

A member of the Cake Poker Network, LockPoker.com has added Brett ‘Gank’ Jungblut, Vinny Pahuja and David Zeitlin to its ranks and they will now participate in its Pro Programme.

This is Jungblut’s first deal, while Zeitlin, a former attorney, has made seven final table appearances this year including winning the main event of the Mohegan Sun Summer Showdown. Pahuja, a former trader on Wall Street, has won two.

“We have a true partnership with these players and understand the value of each one of them,” said Jennifer Larson, Chief Executive Officer for LockPoker.com. “With Eric ‘Rizen’ Lynch and Lock Pro driving our product, we are confident we will have the best online poker experience worldwide.”

PokerVT.com has revealed that Jon ‘PearlJammer’ Turner has joined Daniel Negreanu, Jason ‘JCarver’ Somerville, Adam Junglen and Grayson ‘SpaceGravy’ Physioc as part of its faculty.

It’s this kind of innovation that really attracted me to the company.”

Bwin to take over Gioco Digitale Italian poker giant

It has recently been found that Bwin Interactive Entertainment is to acquire Italian online poker and gaming provider Gioco Digitale for 115 million Euros. Bwin will finance the deal with 50 million Euros in cash and 2.3 million of its shares with the deal closing in October.

Gioco Digitale operates Italy’s largest online-poker website at giocodigitale.it. It hadearnings of 20.1 million Euros initially in 2009 compared to 13.7 million Euros in the first half of 2008. Chief Carlo Gualandri of Gioco would continue to manage it with support from its co-CEOs Norbert Teufelberger and Manfred Bodner.

Along with this deal that was going on the legal side to the drama has not stopped. During a ruling that may have a future impact on Bwin Poker, the European Court of Justice said last week that national bans on internet gambling like Portugal’s did not go against the basic principle of free provision of services. The European Court said such bans were sometimes important to fight against fraud and other crime and could be justified as being in the general interest of the issue.

The European lotteries may try to use Courts ruling to establish their own monopolies on online gambling. Friedrich Stickler, the chief of the Austrian lottery and the president of the European Lottery Association, said he would look into the situation to see what the legal possibilities were.

He claimed it would no longer be adequate for an online gambling provider to have a license from Gibraltar or Malta. In the future, he noted, all such providers would have to have licenses in all countries in which they were providing their services. Bwin.com Poker operates under international and regional licenses in several European countries.

WSOP edges closer to online poker with 888 deal

The World Series of Poker is at it again in the challenging world of online poker. Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment and 888 Holdings reached an agreement where 888’s Dragon fish division will provide online poker and casino software to Harrah’s in an attempt to enter the online gaming market.

“The intent is to be in the online gaming space, wherever it’s legal,” said WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky. “We’ve partnered with 888 to develop a platform.”

Both the WSOP and Caesars Casino brands will definitely have an online presence along with Dragon fish providing ePayments, VIP services and Customer Service to help develop both brands.

888 Holdings is significant in the online gaming market in Europe, but not as well-known in the U.S. due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) passed in 2006.

The 888.com acts as a portal to popular gaming sites like Pacific Poker, 888sport (sports betting) and Reef Club Casino.

“This is a ground breaking deal for 888.com and demonstrates our ability to provide real value to globally renowned, land-based casinos and their leading brands,” said Gigi Levy, CEO of 888.

The online presence of WSOP might be a conflict of interest with live event sponsors like Everest Poker and Betfair Poker.

Palansky says “I really don’t think there’s anything for anybody to worry about,” he said. “The WSOP will remain a premier live poker destination. Our offline events are great opportunities for our sponsors.

“If all this goes through and we do develop an online gaming site then we would be competing in some of the same markets. We would still have relationships with the other sites, however.”

According to Mitch Garber, the CEO of Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment “As we develop and roll out our interactive strategy, we have chosen to work with 888, primarily for their world-class technology, scalability and strong commitment to compliance and responsible gaming,” said Garber.

The 888 deal seems to be as controversial as any other poker deal drama, but it is for the players to wait and watch what this evolves into.
